Hi team don’t want my tight rope too high above the ground so what would be the minimum acceptable starting capital for these portfolios please
Hi all had a search around and clearly the min for Investor is $20k and Income no minimum has been set I guess the answer for income would be if someone with access to the product did some scans with different starting values but I guess it may be the same value as for investor
Hi Ralph,
I quizzed Gary on this exact question just before he started the Spa3 Income public portfolio, and he said initially they were going to start with an injection of US$50k but decided that to be taking income out of it on a regular basis it needed to be a larger starting capital, so decided to make it it US$160k initial capital. So I took that as a suggestion, however he said if you wanted to use the Spa3 Income as a compounding satellite portfolio you could start with any amount really. Correct me if I am wrong Gary.
As far as Spa3 Investor with US Stocks I think that would be the same if you are using it as a compounding satellite portfolio.
Hope that helps, Regards
Thanks Kym makes sense I wanted to start small to test it then add more capital when comfortable not looking to use it for income at this stage
I was also planning to follow the Public portfolio but must have misunderstood the introduction video and hadn’t set aside enough $USD will watch again when I get a chance.
I have 5 x 15000USD positions and will add capital as I go, I am not intending to withdraw any income in the next couple of years.
Minimum starting portfolio size for both Income & Investor can be very small. Here are some determinant criteria:
-
Ensure that each of the 5x simultaneously open positions don’t exceed 1% brokerage per transaction, as a rule of thumb.
E.g. if your min brokerage per trade is $7 your min position size is $700. With 5 open positions the starting capital would be $3,500. -
“Acceptable” is relative based on available capital and absolute growth or income requirements. Calculate these and work backwards.
-
A minimum portfolio size should also take into consideration costs that need to be covered. Such as: annual data fees, price paid for SPA3 Investor / Income, other 3rd party costs.
The starting capital used for the SPA3 Income Public Portfolio has been determined using:
- a reasonable starting capital based on total investible capital in other satellite strategies
- an assumed 25% annual return on capital to produce a supplemental income of around US$40,000 p.a. if trading for income
- if trading for growth, to double the portfolio in around 3.2 years or triple it in around 4.5 years to grow the starting capital to close to $500,000
Thanks Gary
was the figure in point three five hundred thousand ?
Based on the Public Portfolio Investment Plan the initial starting capital for SPA3 Income is $160,000 (USD).
The Investment Plan can be downloaded from the documents section on the home tab in Beyond Charts.
Thanks Gary finally makes sense
