Is there a public portfolio for SPA3 US ETF portfolio? Or any information about it? Does anyone use it as a satellite portfolio? I would like to know more about how it has performed compared with the USA stocks portfolio. I was thinking it might be a lower volatility portfolio.
Hi Trish,
There is no SPA3 Investor US ETF Public Portfolio. The real-money public portfolios I trade are:
- SPA3 Investor ASX Stocks
- SPA3 Investor U.S. Stocks
- SPA3 Crypto U.S.
- SPA3 Income U.S. (Leveraged ETFs)
A real-money public portfolio that ceased being traded last week was SPA3 Investor U.S. Stocks Leveraged. This was a research portfolio.
SPA3 Trader ASX still continues to be traded as a paper portfolio.
Thanks Gary. There is a scan for SPA3 Investor USA ETFs in System scans. So can it be traded as a satellite, in the same way as the USA stocks portfolio? Is there any more information on it somewhere on the website?
It can be traded as a Satellite.
The SPA3 Investor Reference Manual has info in it on trading ETFs. Can access this via Beyond Charts Home tab, Documents.
Also, Session 2 of The 4-Week Training Intensive covers it what Dave & I discuss ETF simulations using SPA3 Investor.
Hi Trish,
Sorry for late reply. I traded the Spa 3 Investor US ETF as a satellite and after nearly 5 years found that whilst it was profitable, for me approx 5% annualized return, it wasn’t as profitable as the Spa 3 Investor US Stocks which for me is kicking around 16% annualized return. Admittedly I have made a few mistakes along the way, but decided that with that sort of difference I abandoned the US ETF portfolio and shifted the $ to the US Stocks portfolio.
I did enjoy the ETF portfolio as it covered a broad range of countries, commodities and sectors and gave me a good overview of the markets, however at the end of the day the decision to cut it was down to return. I can still do the scan to get the feeling for the markets overview.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
Hi Kym, Thanks for your feedback. I had been thinking that’s why there is little discussion or info on the ETF so you have confirmed my ideas to use the US stocks scan instead. As you say it is still interesting to see which ETFs breakout but if the returns are around 5% I can get more than that with Coolabah Bond Funds without having the paperwork. The US stocks scan has given you a very good return.
Cheers,
